Background:

Common neurological and neurodegenerative diseases, e.g. epilepsy, Alzheimer`s disease or ischemia often result from distinct neurophysiological disorders which might potentiate and lead to irreversible defects in the central nervous system (CNS) such as neuronal cell death.

Thus, a better understanding of the neuronal interactions, pathways and their control will provide means for the therapy of certain disorders affecting one or more components of this crucial system. Antibodies against neurotoxins and neurotransmitters

Antisera were raised in rabbits after immunization with the respective conjugated molecules (antigen linked to a protein carrier). Each antibody raised was purified and characterized by competition experiments with different conjugated close to homologue molecules. The antibodies are highly specific, show strong affinities and were usually tested in ELISA, immunohistochemistry and Western blots.
